Who we are

Birriliburu Pty Ltd is a proprietary limited company and wholly owned subsidiary of Martu Native Title Determination (MNR). The company is governed by a Board comprising of seven Martu directors and one independent expert director, ensuring strong cultural authority alongside professional governance oversight.

We are responsible for delivering programs, managing country and supporting community outcomes across approximately 6.6 million hectares of Birriliburu Country - an area almost the size of Tasmania.

Operating in one of the most remote regions of Western Australia, our small but dedicated team works to strengthen Martu governance and manage land and environmental programs across a vast and challenging landscape.

In 2025, under the direction and guidance from the Martu Board, BPL became a fully independent Martu-led organisation, successfully transferring all partnerships across and directly managing all programs and projects.

What we’re doing

• Managing land and environmental programs

• Supporting employment, training, and development for Martu people and communities

• Working with partners to build capacity and governance for the organisation

• Coordinating ranger programs and conservation efforts across the Birriliburu IPA
